This article is written by Chico Harlan, concerning immigration in Japan. Japan's population has been predicted to decrees by twenty-seven million people by the year 2055. Japan's Prime Minister Naoto Kan wants to increase the number of immigrants, his goal is reasonable but he has came across several setback and one takes more precedence than the others. In order to be a recognized immigrant in Japan one must pass a certification test. Japan is in great need for skilled workers, however this test has a success rate of 1%, drastically effecting the number of immigrants that stay long term in Japan.
